You can't make a sword game list without nioh ✌🏻
My favorite sword game is chivalry 2
Sekiro should be the first one. Way better that tsushima (i loved both but sekiro is another level)
Kingdom Come Deliverance It's my favorite game
I'm 9 months late but it's surprising to see a video about hacking and slashing but DMC series is not in here 🤷🏻♂️
How do you spell 18
🇺🇸👍👽😅✌
Onimusha: "Am I a joke to you?"
Cool to see For Honor, I was expecting that and played a lot of it. I have been waiting forever to play Ghosts of Tsushima it feels like. I am waiting for it to come to PC as it's all I play.
Leaving out Metal Gear Rising only shows how bad is this ranking.
What about shadow warrior (remake)
What about shadow warrior (remake)
i know it's not technically a sword but the fighting system in God of War is the best I have ever played. It's like if you take the natural feeling of Ghost of Tsushima or Zelda and combine it with the weight and satisfying crunch of a For Honor and then also gave it the patience and strategy of a Dark Souls (at least on higher difficulty). The way the Axe and the blades feel so different is truly special as well.
The swordplay was one of the only bad parts of Witcher 3. I found myself bored of the clunky, bare-bones sword slashing and dodging, and with just 5 Signs it didn't feel varied at all. Truly disappointing to see it on this list at all
Hellish quart
Afro samurai is by far my favorite sword play game
I think Middle Earth Shadow of war should be on this list
The witcher 3 was one of those games i just could not get the hang of controls and spells.
I wanted to love it but just couldnt get there with several reinstalls to play.
So does this mean Star Wars fallen order bad then? I enjoyed it, kinda shocked it wasn’t here and i didn’t like some of the games (mechanics) listed
No Vermintide2? Oh boi, once you get to legend and above, the symphony of moment-to-moment combat dance is unbeatable by even Dark Souls to be honest… The sheer fucking skill ceiling that the Vermintide 2 offers … the composition, timing, and methodical combat … boi … Good player that knows how to play with a Zealot or a Bounty Hunter equipped with billhook and brace pistols is DOOMGUY in Fantasy setting.
Kingdom Come Deliverance would be an awesome VR game
I remember this video in which two HEMA guys are looking at scenes from Kingdom Come and actually saying that it looks hella realistic combat wise. And holy hell, as someone who tried Kendo… Video games are brutally slow in that regard. In real life the tells are way harder to read but video games are coming close (detouring to KCD the enemies actually trick you sometimes with a feint attack)
Aside from this I really enjoyed the games I played on this list despite not being able to come far in Sekiro, I can totally see why people enjoy it so much. I didn't like it because I felt like the game forced one specific approach on you and it felt totally unnatural for me and I could for the hell of me not adapt to it. I don't even know what's wrong with me in this regard xD
Nioh1/2
Ghost of Tsushima
Sekiro are all some of my favorite games ever
Bushido Blade!!! Been waiting for a reboot for decades
Have you played all 20+ games to make the top 20? or did you go by popularity of the games or game studios?
Actually I like more sword fighting games that test the tactics than reflects.
Mount and Blade Warband. I've bought Bannerlord so I'll be installing that soon.
You forgot Hollow Knight
What about Prince of Persia Warrior Within?
Blade of Darkness?
Never heard of Bushido Blade, but my first impression is that all the animation looks very good for an old game.
I am here looking for something to quench my thirst after finishing Ghost of Tsushima. I need more! The whole package of that game is what I am looking for.
Barbarian back on the old Atari st had a complicated combat system at the time . It was the first game that hooked me after playing it round a friend's .
DMC should be at least a bonus
Huge W for Ghost of Tsushima on release it definitely made my All time list
nioh & nioh 2?
Number 5 and that cyberpunk hack/slash made it into the list and Skyrim didn't? WTF!?
Exanima and Hellish Quartet
Not a single game in this list can actually compare to Kingdom Come. If we are talking swords and combat with swords, WarHorse invented the formula. I wish we see more games like that one
Unity was a great game.
monster hunter series. they got a plethora of swords.
waiting for Ghost of Tsushima to come on pc
Final fantasy 15 lol
BONUS: Blade of Darkness!
SEKIRO IS NUMBER ONE,2,3.👑
All Samurai Shodown and Last Blade games!??? Hellish Quart!??? Zelda…euh no lol!!!
Bro blooderbone, god of war
Shadow of war, need I say more?
This video really drops the ball, not saying that these games aren't great, but you really can't talk swordplay video games without blade and sorcery, Gladius and gorn. Everything on this list pails in comparison. At least in my opinion. Nothing compares to going toe to toe with a opponent in Gladius and then hearing that tiger growl. Next thing is, dodging arrows, while blocking a blade, and wondering where that tiger went to.
Hellish Quart is most realistic and really fun to play sword game even it's still in development.
